Derbyshire Residence

Modern, functional interiors were the brief for the design of this new build family home in Derbyshire. An inspiring double height hallway contrasts the bucolic surroundings.

A place to be able to take off and put on shoes by the doorway was required so vintage theatre chairs were sourced and put on a custom plinth.

The use of oak within the interior nods to the traditional roots of the area but the dovetail joints and seemingly unsupported structure of the staircase gives it a contemporary finish. The rest of the scheme is kept minimal as the wood sings for itself.

Unexpected design

Form & function

A light and inviting open plan living space was designed and created. A polished concrete floor provides patina and flow and bold shapes and colour punctuate the space. Swivel chairs and 360 degree rotating suspended fire ensures fluidity and functionality.

Home office design

Storage is one of the main objectives of this new phase but with an emphasis on design-focused finish that is inspiring yet comfortable for two people to work together.

Stained ply and Orac Decor panelling create visually striking colour block design that adds texture into the room without dominating in this double height space.
