As someone with a real love of electronic music this project was close to home. It had to be rooted in the culture the owners wanted to foster: welcoming a diverse community, its energy is a break from the mainstream yet familiar, like a good house-party. The space needed to feel effortless for both customer and staff

Vintage sourcing

The narrative for this space sat at the intersection of underground music culture, modern eclecticisms and DIY spirit. It wasn't about replicating a specific style but about crafting a layered atmosphere that felt raw and alive with possibility. A lot of time was spent sourcing and curating vintage pieces to give the desired lived-in aesthetic with some iconic mid-century silhouettes. Functionality was carefully considered, there had to be agility in the furnishings to allow for people to dance. Texture and lighting were important making this a sensory experience elevating the mood. Contrasting organic materials against industrial.

The patina of concrete, wood and cork creates movement. Pitched against warm but contemporary red lighting. The space feels authentic and uncontrived. Understanding the clientele was important so that it resonated with the right crowd; gritty where it needed to be but refined in all the right places.

Acoustics

The space had to do justice to the L-Acoustics sound system. Bespoke acoustic panels were an important element of the design some ceiling suspended and additional wall hung QRD diffusers which are an eye-catching feature of the overall design
